BIO

Jay Havighurst creates art and sculpture in Essex, Massachusetts, on Boston’s North Shore. He is the author of Making Musical Instruments By Hand, a book on building musical instruments, published by Quarry Books. A graduate of Mass College of Art’s Sculpture Department and Studio for Interrelated Media, Jay exhibits his sculptures throughout New England and composes and arranges music for dance performances including Nancy Compton’s Ancient Ocean, and Exit Dance in Beyond the Hedge.
 

Jay is the Curator of Somerby's Landing Sculpture Park in Newburyport, MA, a contemporary outdoor sculpture park on the Merrimack River. He played in the improvisational band, The Free Range Experiment. Their CD, Levitation, is available for download online. Jay is also an Owner and Creative Director of the design firm, Artfluence, providing websites, social media marketing and printed graphics.
